About Library

The Institute has a special referral medico-historical library with 18252 valuable books, back volumes of medico-historical journals, 367 medical manuscripts (Ayurveda: 254, Siddha: 06, Unani: 107)and Other: 53. Apart from main collection covering reference section (bibliographies, catalogues, directories, encyclopedia, indices, travelogues), art and sculpture, archeology and epigraphy, history of science and allied subjects, world medicine, Indian medicine, history and culture (world and India), non-medical literature, reprints and periodicals etc. All the above mentioned literature made available to historians, research scholars including post graduate students from India and abroad. Till the reporting period (i.e. March 2007) 26931 scholars have visited and utilized the services of this library.

It contains the following books etc., on different aspects and branches of History of Medicine and the collection of several classics of Indian and European medicine.
