About Library



The Library is a medium through which students access various information to enhance their knowledge in different discipline. The University is committed to ensure availability of huge resources for the students to explore varied literature to understand the significance and multi-dimensional role of law in different fields of study. At present, the University carries more than thousand titles of Books and Journals put together. It also procured various e-databases which helps the students and faculties of the University to connect with the literature related to the subject available all over the world.

National Law University Tripura’s library is without doubt the University’s pride and joy. Since its inception, it has achieved highest standards which are commendable for teaching and basic research purposes. It houses a collection of 1500 books, about 187 primary legal texts (such as copies of bare acts, law commission reports, etc.), and more than a hundred law reports, academic journals, and the like amounting to a total of 76 individual volumes. Particular interest to law scholars is the acquisition of complete sets of older law reports such as the Law Reports (Indian Appeals), Moore’s Indian Appeals, the Criminal Law Journal, and Calcutta Weekly Notes. Columbia Law Review, Stanford Law Review and Contemporary Problems, Lyold’ s Law Reports, etc. Unlike contemporary reports these are not readily available online, which make hard copies essential and irreplaceable.

Consequently, this collection acquired by National Law University Tripura is of inestimable value to researchers investigating legal developments of the last few centuries. The National Law University, Tripura library has Databases including, LexisNexis Advance India, SCC online, HeinOnline, Jstor, ONOS and DELNET.

National Law University, Tripura library is also a member of ONOS which allows our students and faculty access to a wide variety of literary resources. Apart from this, National Law University, Tripura library has a subscription to an anti-plagiarism software, DrillBit for all its users along with free access to another anti-plagiarism Original through INFLIBNET exclusively for faculty members and research scholars.

Library Rules



ADMISSION TO THE LIBRARY

Every member/user entering the library shall sign and fill the necessary information in Visitor Register kept at the entrance.
Library Cum Identity card is to be shown at entrance or counter when required.
Any personal documents and belonging shall not be allowed inside the Library
Eatables are not allowed inside the Library.
All readers/users shall maintain silence within library premise and shall observe all the Regulations of Library.
The Library is open to only its benefited members of National Law University, Tripura including Students, Researchers, Faculty and Non-Teaching Staff of the University.
The Visitors (Non-members) shall only be allowed to access the library only after seeking written permission from the competent authority (Vice-Chancellor/Registrar)
LEANDING/CIRCULATION

The Library counter remains open form 11.00 AM to 7.00 PM form Monday to Saturday (Except 2nd& 4th Saturday).
Students should produce their Identity Card for all transactions in the Library documents.
The user shall get the document issued from the circulation counter.
The user shall be responsible for loan documents issued on his/her account. The document(s) issued on individual accounts is non-transferable.
No library documents shall be issued during vacations.
Books on Loan shall be returned on due date from date of issue.
Books/Documents from reference collection shall be issued on special permission.
Renewal of books will only be done if not reserved by other members.
Books can be renewed twice for 20 days in case of no reservation.
Library document /book on loan could be recalled before due date of return.
LOSS OR DAMAGE OF THE LIBRARY BOOKS/DOCUMENTS

Borrower and Circulation desk staff shall check the book carefully and if any defect is found it should be brought to the notice of the University Authorities.
Lost/damaged book of the Library must be reported in writing to the University Authorities. The borrower has to replace the book at his/her own cost by a new book of the same or latest edition.
In case if the lost/damaged book is not available with the vendor/publisher, the borrower shall be liable to pay two times (double the cost) of the books with the fine applicable.
Borrowers shall keep the books in good condition. Making marks with pen/pencil, tearing of taking out pages of book or spoiling the book will amount to causing damages to the book and is not allowed.
In case of failure to return issued books/library documents, the authority may take appropriate action.
GENERAL REGULATIONSS AND REGULATIONS

Library is open to bonafide members only.
Every member who enters the Library shall sign the visitor register.
Members should produce their University ID card for borrowing library resources.
All users shall maintain peaceful environment of study within and around the Library.
Talking, eating, sleeping etc. is strictly prohibited.
Mobile Phones are not allowed inside the Library.
Except Laptops, no personal books, bags etc. are allowed inside the Library.
Do not keep money or valuables in bags. Library staff will not be responsible for any loss.
Library staff may request any user to leave the premises if found to be violating any of the Library Regulations.
Any Violation of the NLUT Library Regulations shall lead to forfeiture of the membership of concerned member.
The Library resources must be returned to the Library on the last working day during vacations.
