About Library



Library-cum-Documentation Centre, NCCL is one of the most specialized libraries with facility of research, reference and lending for professionals working in the field of children’s literature. Library has collection of selected 16,000 quality books of children’s literature in 40 Indian and 26 foreign languages from across the country. The collection includes 600 reference books on children’s content including classics and Indian culture, Children’s Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Atlas, etc. The library also subscribes more than 15 popular children’s magazines as well as digital children’s content is also available for viewing and use of the library members.


राष्ट्रीय बाल साहित्य केंद्र का पुस्तकालय-सह-प्रलेखन केंद्र बाल साहित्य से जुडे हुए लोगो के लिए अनुसंधान, संदर्भ और पुस्तकों के प्रचलन की सुविधा के साथ विशिष्ट पुस्तकालयों में से एक है। पुस्तकालय में देश भर की 40 भारतीय और 26 विदेशी भाषाओं में बाल साहित्य की 16,000 पुस्तकों का संग्रह है। संग्रह में भारतीय संस्कृति, बच्चों के विश्वकोश, शब्दकोश, एटलस आदि सहित बाल साहित्य पर 600 संदर्भ पुस्तकें भी शामिल हैं। पुस्तकालय में 15 से अधिक लोकप्रिय बाल पत्रिकाएँ और डिजिटल सामग्री भी उपलब्ध है।


The prime objective of NCCL is to inculcate the habit of reading books other than prescribed textbooks as well, so as to provide an easy access to good and interesting reading materials so that children’s creative faculties get a boost. The library has been developed considering the needs of children’s literature among authors, scholars, illustrators, publishers, and the whole community of creators associated with it. The Centre is mandated to conduct surveys and research work related to children’s literature.


राष्ट्रीय बाल साहित्य केंद्र पुस्तकालय का मुख्य उद्देश्य बच्चों में निर्धारित पाठ्यपुस्तकों के अलावा अन्य पुस्तकों को पढ़ने की आदत को विकसित करना है, ताकि अच्छी और रोचक पठन सामग्री आसानी से प्रदान की जा सके और बच्चों के रचनात्मक संकायों को बढ़ावा मिले। पुस्तकालय को लेखकों, विद्वानों, चित्रकारों, प्रकाशकों और इसके साथ जुड़े रचनाकारों के पूरे समुदाय के बीच बाल साहित्य की जरूरतों को देखते हुए विकसित किया गया है। केंद्र द्वारा बाल साहित्य से संबंधित सर्वेक्षण और अनुसंधान कार्य भी किये जाते हैं।


The National Centre for Children’s Literature (NCCL) was established by the National Book Trust, India in 1993 to monitor, coordinate, plan and aid the publication of children’s literature in various Indian languages. It is well connected with all the organizations, institutions, NGOs active in the field of promotion of children’s literature across India.


राष्ट्रीय बाल साहित्य केंद्र (एनसीसीएल) की स्थापना राष्ट्रीय पुस्तक न्यास, भारत द्वारा 1993 में विभिन्न भारतीय भाषाओं में बाल साहित्य के प्रकाशन, निगरानी, समन्वय, योजना और सहायता के लिए की गई थी। यह भारत भर में बाल साहित्य के प्रचार के क्षेत्र में सक्रिय सभी संगठनों, संस्थानों, गैर-सरकारी संगठनों से पूरी तरह से जुड़ा हुआ है।

Library Rules: 1. The library is open for all who’s interested in Children’s Literature.
2. Persons seeking membership may collect the requisite form available at the circulation counter and submit the same duly filled along with two stamp size photographs and valid ID proof i.e. Voter ID, Aadhar Card, etc.
3. Library is open on all working days (Monday to Friday) from 9.30 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.
4. The library remains closed on all government holidays.
5. Membership enrollment is done only between 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
6. Change of address and telephone number should be informed without fail.
7. Personal books are not allowed in the library.
8. Mobile is not to be used in the library. They should be on silent mode or switched off.
9. Readers should take care of their valuables. Library will not be responsible for any loss.
10. Library provides individual membership to persons residing in Delhi only.
11. Membership is given upon onetime payment of a refundable security deposit of Rs. 500/- with registration fee of Rs. 100/-. Payment is to be made in cash.
12. For refund of security deposit, members may apply for cancellation of membership along with cash receipt.
13. Only two books are issued per individual. Reference books and CD/DVDs are not available for borrowing.
14. Books are issued for 15 days. They will be renewed if there is no demand for them from other members.
15. If books are not returned on the due date, a fine of Rs. 1/- will be charged per day on every book.
16. Readers are supposed to replace books if they are lost or damaged.
17. In case of loss of a particular volume, complete set price has to be paid.
18. Cash payments for loss or unacceptable damage are to be made as per the present price of the book.
19. Temporary membership is free for outstation experts and research scholars for 15 days. Books will not be issued to temporary members.


Timing: 9.30 am to 5.00 pm (Monday to Friday)
